APC's Vatsa Warns Tinubu Against Muslim-Muslim Ticket

Jonathan Vatsa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Niger State Commissioner for Information and Culture, cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against maintaining a Muslim-Muslim ticket with Vice President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 presidential elections. Vatsa expressed that such a decision could lead to a rejection of the APC by Christian voters, significantly affecting the party's support base.

He described the Muslim-Muslim ticket as politically insensitive, especially in light of the current security concerns and the need for fair representation among Nigeria's diverse religious communities. Vatsa emphasized that the APC would face challenges in convincing Christian voters to support a Muslim-Muslim ticket, particularly with opposition parties likely presenting candidates with Christian running mates.

He advised Niger State Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago to select a Christian running mate for the upcoming governorship elections, highlighting the importance of balanced political arrangements in Nigeria.
