Kwara Christian Leaders Urge Tinubu for APC Ticket

Christian leaders in Kwara State have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider a Christian candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the upcoming 2027 elections. This appeal was made during a press conference in Ilorin, where the group emphasized the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and equity in the state's political arrangements.

They clarified that their request is not a demand for religious politics but rather a call for balanced representation that accommodates all sections of the state. The group referenced a survey by the Africa Polling Institute, which indicated that 90% of Muslim respondents would support a competent Christian candidate, while 98% of Christian respondents would back a Muslim candidate.

They mentioned potential candidates such as Femi Sanni, known as Araba, and Dr. Toyin Alabi, highlighting the need for leadership qualities and experience.

The group, led by Rev. Felix Ajid, remains committed to peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the political landscape of Kwara State.
