APC Leaders Demand Transparent Primaries for 2027 Elections

In a significant political development, prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) members, including former Adamawa governorship aspirant Abdulrazak Namda and Zamfara North senatorial aspirant Sani Shinkafi, have publicly rejected the idea of a consensus arrangement for candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections. They insist that the party should conduct transparent and competitive primaries to allow aspirants to test their popularity among party members.

Namda, who previously served as a spokesperson in the House of Representatives, expressed confidence that the APC would not impose candidates in Adamawa State. He urged politicians to prepare for competitive contests rather than rely on consensus arrangements.

Shinkafi criticized the performance of current representatives in Zamfara State and called for direct primaries to choose candidates. Ayo Aris, another aspirant, echoed the need for transparency in the primary elections.

The nomination form submission deadline is set for May 6, 2026, with the presidential and national assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.
