Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso Lead Save Democracy Protest in Abuja

On Wednesday, prominent opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, led a "Save Democracy" protest in Abuja, starting around 10 AM at Maitama Roundabout in the Federal Capital Territory. The protest, organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and supported by civil society members, aimed to resist perceived attempts to undermine democratic principles and safeguard Nigeria's electoral integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku Abubakar described the protest as a peaceful demonstration against partisanship within the electoral system, highlighting fears of political dominance by a single party and the weakening of opposition structures. Obi stressed the urgency of defending democratic values and warned against the drift towards a one-party state.

The protest reflected increasing political mobilization among opposition groups and civic actors, with flyers circulating to encourage public participation in defending democracy and protecting votes.
