Politicians Rally in Abuja Against INEC Decisions

On Wednesday, a significant protest took place in Abuja, organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to address recent decisions made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the party claims undermine democracy. The protest, tagged #OccupyINEC, featured prominent figures such as former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, along with other notable politicians including Rauf Aregbesola and Dino Melaye.

Participants sang Nigeria's national anthem and carried placards supporting Senator David Mark. The ADC expressed that INEC's decision to no longer accept correspondence from either faction of the party, led by David Mark and Nafiu Bala, interferes with the party's autonomy and internal affairs.

The protest aimed to mobilize Nigerians to defend democracy, with organizers emphasizing the need for unity and peaceful demonstration against what they perceive as actions that could create disaffection among opposition groups.
