Two Katsina Officials Resign to Contest 2027 Elections

On Monday, two political appointees in Katsina State, Commissioner for Environment Hamza Suleiman and Special Assistant Shehu Daura, resigned from Governor Dikko Umar Radda's cabinet. Their resignations are in line with a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which requires political appointees to resign by March 31, 2026, if they intend to contest for elected offices in the 2027 elections.

Hamza Suleiman plans to contest for the Katsina South Senatorial District seat, currently held by APC member Muntari Mohd Daura, while Shehu Daura is also seeking a senatorial position. In a statement to newsmen, Hamza expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for the opportunity to serve and emphasized his optimism that the policies of Radda's administration would yield positive results for the state.

The political landscape is gearing up for the 2027 elections, with various candidates preparing to contest for key positions.
