INEC Disqualifies Six Political Parties Seeking Registration in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disqualified six political parties seeking registration in Nigeria, while eight others successfully completed the initial registration process. The decision was made after a review meeting held on October 30, 2025, to assess the progress of the parties.

Sam Olumekun, the chairman of INEC's Voter Education Committee, confirmed the disqualifications in a statement issued in Abuja. The disqualified parties failed to meet the stipulated requirements, while the successful parties will proceed to the next phase of verification and assessment.

INEC emphasized the importance of compliance with legal criteria for full registration as a political party.
