Adoko Urges Accord Party to Submit Hashim to INEC

On Wednesday, Light Adoko, a public affairs analyst and chieftain of the Accord Party, called on the party's leadership to promptly submit Gbenga Olawepo Hashim's name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This demand comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding Hashim's candidacy, with some party chairmen, including Maxwell Mgbuden, rejecting his emergence as the presidential candidate.

Despite this, Hashim has dismissed the party's position, arguing that it risks leaving the party without a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. Adoko criticized the party leadership for allegedly acting as a machinery to block Hashim's candidacy, emphasizing that political parties should not be treated as private businesses or family properties.

He underscored the importance of internal democracy within the party and warned against actions that could undermine the party's integrity and democratic values.
