PDP's Odii Alerts Security on Threat to Running Mate

Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has raised concerns over an alleged plot to attack his running mate, Barr. Patrick Mgbebu.

This warning was issued through Odii's spokesman, Emmanuel Igwe, after Mgbebu was selected as the PDP deputy governorship candidate for the February 2027 election. Mgbebu, a former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and the immediate past representative of the state on the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMAFC), was chosen after consultations with party stakeholders.

Igwe claimed that unnamed leaders of a political party met in Abakaliki to discuss plans to target Mgbebu upon his return from Abuja. The alleged attack was purportedly to be framed as an internal disagreement within the PDP campaign.

Odii urged security agencies to investigate these claims and protect Mgbebu and other campaign members, emphasizing that politics should focus on ideas and manifestos rather than intimidation or violence.
