Edo NDC Appeals for Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has initiated outreach to aggrieved party members, urging them to cooperate and support the party in preparation for the 2027 general election. During an enlarged stakeholders meeting in Benin City, the party's chairman, Mr. David Olukoga, appealed particularly to aspirants who did not succeed in the party's primaries, emphasizing the importance of unity for electoral success.

He advised members to seek legal redress for grievances rather than undermining the party's chances. Olukoga stated, “The main issue is for the party to win elections and not for individuals to start fighting over positions,” and highlighted the need to focus on winning rather than resolving post-primaries disputes.

He warned against insults and conflicts among leaders, urging members to move forward collectively. Additionally, Edo Central Senatorial Leader Peter Ojeimen expressed apologies on behalf of the party, while Dr. Sylva Afetu Oshiokpekhai, the party leader in Edo North, called for unity and the commencement of house-to-house campaigns.
