Datti Baba-Ahmed: Only Divine Intervention Can Stop Tinubu

Datti Baba-Ahmed, who served as the Labour Party's vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, asserted that President Bola Tinubu's dominance in Nigeria's political landscape is so formidable that only divine intervention could thwart his chances of winning the 2027 presidential election. During an interview on TrustTV, Datti acknowledged his disagreements with several of Tinubu's policies but recognized the president's effectiveness as a political organizer, attributing his success to approximately 16 years of groundwork leading to the 2023 election victory.

He highlighted Tinubu's unconventional political strategies, including his role in forming alliances before the 2015 election, as distinguishing factors that set him apart from other political figures. Datti characterized Tinubu's 2023 election victory as an extraordinary achievement, likening it to winning a lottery with 16 digits.

He suggested that Tinubu has "overpowered almost everyone" in the political arena and is actively shaping the opposition, rather than merely confronting it.
