Thugs Attack NDC Supporters During Campaign in Enugu
On October 10, suspected political thugs attacked supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State during a campaign event for the party's governorship candidate, Chinyeaka Ohaa. The first incident occurred at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Emene, where armed hoodlums fired sporadically, causing chaos as supporters attempted to welcome Ohaa.
A video captured one attacker striking an NDC supporter with a plank, resulting in a bleeding head wound. A man in army uniform was seen nearby but did not intervene.
Following this, supporters regrouped at the NDC secretariat for the campaign flag-off, where gunfire erupted again, forcing attendees to flee. Enugu State Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe was contacted for comments but did not respond before the report was filed.
These violent events followed a previous attack on September 12, where thugs disrupted an NDC meeting in the same area, prompting police investigations into the incidents.
