Adebayo Promises Solar Power for Every Nigerian Home

Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has pledged that under his presidency, every Nigerian household will generate its own electricity using rooftop solar power. He unveiled this plan during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, stating that he aims to install between 11 and 15 kilowatts of solar power on each roof within 11 months of taking office if elected in the 2027 general election.

Adebayo highlighted the ongoing electricity shortages in Nigeria, which have persisted despite numerous reforms in the power sector. His strategy includes establishing solar panel manufacturing factories in Nigeria through partnerships with countries such as China, Turkey, and India, and training Nigerians in solar system installation and maintenance.

Adebayo, who has practical experience in renewable energy, revealed that he manufactures solar panels and lithium batteries and has trained approximately 2,000 individuals in his hometown in solar installation and maintenance.
