Adebayo Proposes Economic Blueprint for Nigeria's Future

Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), unveiled an economic blueprint titled “Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity,” aimed at transforming Nigeria from an import-dependent economy into a production-driven economy within four years. The plan includes reforms in agriculture, manufacturing, electricity, automobile production, and small and medium-scale enterprises, anchored on principles such as self-reliance, full employment, and strategic government intervention.

Adebayo emphasized the need to move away from “palliative economics” and focus on job creation and domestic production. Central to the blueprint is an agricultural strategy that includes expanded irrigation and agro-processing hubs across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

A notable proposal is the establishment of a Bank of Electricity, which would provide long-term financing for distributed power generation and support local production of electricity infrastructure. Adebayo also identified the need for urgent policy intervention in the automobile sector to reduce reliance on imports.
