Shekarau to Rejoin APC After Meeting with Tinubu

Ibrahim Shekarau, the former Governor of Kano State, is preparing to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the Easter period. This meeting, which took place in Lagos, involved high-level discussions with key APC figures aimed at strengthening the party's structure in Kano, a significant political battleground.

Shekarau, who is currently a member of the board of trustees of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), is reportedly planning to leave the PDP, influenced by recent consultations with Tinubu. The political landscape in Kano has been rapidly changing, particularly after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's defection from the PDP to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in February.

Shekarau's potential return to the APC comes after failed attempts by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to secure his support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Shekarau's spokesperson, Professor Sule Yau Sule, confirmed the meeting with Tinubu and Governor Yusuf, emphasizing the importance of broad consultations in the political process.
