Peter Obi Invites Scrutiny Ahead of 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, publicly challenged Nigerians to investigate his personal and public records for any wrongdoing as the 2027 general election approaches. Speaking at a town hall meeting titled “Obi Talks Nigeria” in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, Obi, alongside his running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso, expressed readiness for scrutiny regarding their backgrounds, including dates of birth and education.

He stated that information about their pasts is available for verification. Obi also referenced a legal dispute with Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo, who allegedly claimed to possess shocking information about him.

Obi stated he had taken legal action after Okonkwo's comments and extended his challenge to anyone with information about his or Kwankwaso's alleged wrongdoing. He argued that political leadership credibility should be assessed not only by the office held but also by the integrity of the process leading to that office.
