Peter Obi Promises Single-Term Presidency for 2027

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared his intention to serve only a single term of four years if elected in the 2027 general elections. In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’, Obi emphasized that he would not extend his presidency beyond this period, stating, “A day more than four years is not Peter Obi.” He expressed a commitment to transparency and accountability, urging trust in leaders.

Obi referenced his previous governance experience, asserting that he fulfilled his promises as governor, including efficient management of funds and improvements in education and healthcare. He reiterated his willingness to formalize this agreement, stating, “Even if you want me to sign it with you, I sign it with you.” Obi's stance reflects a desire for a new political culture in Nigeria, where leaders adhere to their commitments.
