Peter Obi Focuses on Nigeria's Progress, Not Presidency

Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’ that he is not desperate to become President of Nigeria. His primary ambition is to ensure the country functions effectively for the benefit of all its citizens.

Obi articulated that his political aspirations stem from a desire to address Nigeria's challenges rather than a personal quest for power. He stated, “I am not desperate to become President of Nigeria.

I am desperate to see Nigeria work. If it is working, I will support whatever makes it work.” He emphasized that effective leadership should be assessed by its ability to enhance the lives of Nigerians, restore public trust in governance, and foster economic growth.

Obi reiterated the importance of prioritizing national development over personal ambition and called for leaders committed to solving the country’s issues. He also pledged to pursue reforms aimed at improving governance and rebuilding the economy if elected in the upcoming presidential election.
