Benue APC Faces Crisis Over Zoning and Consensus Candidates

A fresh crisis has hit the Benue State chapter of the APC over issues related to zoning and the endorsement of consensus candidates. Mr.

Thomas Ioryina raised concerns about the premature endorsement of consensus candidates, warning that it has already generated tension within the party. He criticized the zoning formula, stating it does not reflect equity and fails to promote fair inclusion among stakeholders.

Mr. Terna Akpen echoed these sentiments, arguing that the zoning formula appears to favor certain interests, undermining unity.

Mr. Grace Iorver described the rush to adopt consensus candidates without proper consultation as dangerous, noting that it sidelines qualified aspirants who have invested time and resources.

Mr. Edwin Akaah warned that unresolved disputes over zoning could lead to defections and protest votes, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness to maintain grassroots support.

He urged APC leadership at both state and national levels to intervene swiftly to restore confidence among members.
