APC Cancels Zoning for 2027 Abia Governorship Race

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially canceled its earlier zoning arrangement for the 2027 governorship race in Abia State. This decision, confirmed by Hon.

Uch Aguoru, the APC Abia State Public Secretary, comes as a direct counter to a previous order from the state working committee that restricted the governorship ticket to a specific region. The change was prompted by serious complaints from party stakeholders within the Abia State chapter, who expressed dissatisfaction with the initial plan.

The national leadership of the APC has determined that reversing the zoning arrangement is necessary to maintain internal harmony and uphold the party's democratic standards. Consequently, the party will now allow all qualified members to contest for electoral positions without regional restrictions, including seats in the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and the governorship.

This development marks a significant shift in the party's stance, occurring just 24 hours after the state chapter announced that the governorship ticket would be reserved exclusively for the Abia Central Senatorial District.
