GAC Endorses Dr. Hamzat for Lagos Governorship 2027

On Tuesday, the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) of Lagos State convened a special meeting where they adopted Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the current Deputy Governor, as their preferred candidate for the governorship position in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The meeting, attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other members, included 28 members led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi. The council emphasized the importance of unity within the party and the need for a consensus candidate to promote peace and collaboration.

Although the party's constitution allows for free primaries, the GAC decided to pursue a consensus approach to strengthen party unity ahead of the elections. Prince Olusi confirmed that the group had agreed on Hamzat as the consensus candidate and pledged their support for him in the 2027 elections.
