Ambode and Adediran Endorse Hamzat for Lagos Governorship

Akinwunmi Ambode, former Lagos State governor, and Olajide Adediran, the People's Democratic Party governorship candidate, have publicly endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus candidate for the Lagos governorship in the 2027 elections. Ambode's statement, made on Thursday, congratulated Hamzat and highlighted the endorsement as a product of long-standing party loyalty and dedication.

He pledged support for Bola Tinubu's re-election, emphasizing the importance of continuity in leadership for Nigeria's progress. Adediran announced his withdrawal from the governorship race, citing the need to prioritize collective interests over personal ambitions, and reaffirmed his loyalty to the party's leadership structure.

The decision was described as disciplined and necessary for party cohesion. The endorsement gained momentum following support from key party stakeholders, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The party's leadership structure, represented by GAC Chairman Tajudeen Olusi, confirmed the decision, reflecting internal agreements while maintaining due process.
