Okechukwu Urges Tinubu to Empower Shettima Economically

Osita Okechukwu, a member of the Progressive Congress, called on President Bola Tinubu to assign more economic responsibilities to Vice President Kashim Shettima as he retains his position ahead of the 2027 elections. Okechukwu expressed delight at Tinubu's decision to keep Shettima, highlighting the importance of economic reforms that have led to significant macroeconomic stability.

However, he pointed out that hunger and poverty remain pressing issues that require urgent attention. Okechukwu commended Tinubu for his economic reforms, which have improved macroeconomic indicators, but stressed that approximately 63 percent of Nigerians live below the national poverty line, according to the International Monetary Fund.

He appealed for Shettima's expertise in agricultural economics and public service to support efforts aimed at reducing poverty and promoting inclusive economic growth in Nigeria.
