Gongola Elders Endorse Tinubu, Demand Fair Elections

The Gongola People Forum, representing elders from Adamawa State, publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office during a press conference held in Abuja on Monday. The forum, led by spokesman Engin Marku Gundiri, emphasized the necessity for a transparent, free, and credible process to select candidates for the upcoming 2027 governorship elections.

They expressed strong opposition to any attempts to impose candidates, stressing that such actions would undermine democracy and represent a dangerous shift towards political authoritarianism. The forum declared their commitment to resist any imposition of candidates by a small clique, insisting that the selection process must allow for genuine participation from all party members.

They called for open primaries to ensure that candidates emerge through democratic means, reflecting the will of the people rather than being dictated by a few individuals. The elders reaffirmed their stance against any undemocratic tendencies within the APC and urged the party leadership to uphold democratic principles.
