Onanuga Questions Obi's Credibility Over One-Term Pledge

Bayo Onanuga, a presidential aide, has publicly questioned the credibility of Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, over his promise to serve only one term if elected president in 2027. Onanuga referenced Obi's political history, alleging that the former Anambra State governor had previously pledged loyalty to parties only to later leave them.

He specifically mentioned Obi's past with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and suggested that Obi's record of switching political platforms raises doubts about his trustworthiness. Onanuga stated that he does not believe Obi's commitment to serve a single term, citing Obi's frequent political realignments.

Additionally, he noted that Obi's recent defect alongside other politicians to contest on a joint ticket with the NDC, announced on May 9, indicates a strategy to secure northern support while promising to honor his one-term pledge.
