Presidency Critiques Peter Obi as Political Nomad

The presidency, through spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, has labeled Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, as a "political nomad" and an opportunist. This criticism comes amid speculation about Obi's possible defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in March 2026, as hinted in a social media post.

Onanuga dismissed Obi's explanations for his political maneuvers as incoherent and self-serving, suggesting that Obi's frequent shifts in political allegiance indicate a lack of stability and an unwillingness to engage in self-reflection. He accused Obi of shifting blame rather than taking responsibility for his political actions.

Despite the criticisms, Onanuga welcomed Obi's potential participation in the 2027 presidential race, although Obi has not formally declared his next political move. Additionally, Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, is mentioned as the head of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
