Ameachi Declares Candidacy for 2027 Presidential Election

Rotimi Ameachi, the former governor of Rivers State and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential elections in Nigeria. During an appearance on Channels Television, Ameachi declared himself the "only true Nigerian candidate," emphasizing his commitment to addressing Nigeria's challenges beyond ethnic divisions.

He criticized the ethnic-based politics prevalent among other aspirants, specifically mentioning the candidacies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, who represent different ethnic groups. Ameachi urged Nigerians to support candidates based on national identity rather than ethnicity, stating that the country needs to focus on solving its problems collectively.

He highlighted that Tinubu, as a Yoruba candidate, should not deter others from running, asserting that the solution to Nigeria's issues lies in unity and collaboration among its citizens.
