Wike Denies Seeking Alliance with APC Governors Ahead of 2027

Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, responded to the Progressive Governors Forum's rejection of his proposed rainbow coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stated in an interview with ARISE NEWS that he never approached the forum for any alliance.

The forum, chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, had announced on September 14, 2026, that APC governors would not support any external political alliances and would only back official APC candidates, arguing that outside support could weaken the party. Wike criticized this stance as politically lazy and baseless, asserting his commitment to securing President Bola Tinubu's re-election.

He clarified that he had never engaged with the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum for an alliance and pointed out that his support for Tinubu is separate from his party affiliation. Wike also accused Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of focusing on him during disagreements, emphasizing that he has always informed the President of his political actions.
