2027: I’ll return fuel subsidy if elected – ADC presidential aspirant, Kachikwu

Presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2023 election, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu, has promised to return the fuel subsidy if elected Nigerian President in 2027. In an interview with Vanguard, Kachikwu criticized the subsidy as a bad policy that forces poor Nigerians to pay the price for inefficiency and mismanagement.

He emphasized the need to stop the abuse of the subsidy scheme and prosecute corrupt individuals involved. Kachikwu cautioned against hastily removing the subsidy, citing the example of President Tinubu who announced its removal on his inauguration day, despite the previous administration led by late President Muhammadu Buhari also removing it.

Kachikwu highlighted the importance of providing a budget for the subsidy to ensure transparency and accountability in its implementation.
