Atiku Abubakar Will Step Aside for Peter Obi in 2027

In an interview on Wednesday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed his willingness to step aside for Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, should Obi secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 elections. When directly asked if he would step aside for Obi, who is regarded as a front-runner for the ADC presidential ticket, Atiku confirmed he would do so for the winner of the primaries, which could include Obi.

He also mentioned that the ADC ticket could be contested by other notable figures such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi. Atiku emphasized that it is not difficult for him to step down, indicating a willingness to support a consensus candidate in the electoral process.
