Atiku Abubakar Will Step Down for Peter Obi in 2027

In a recent interview, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar confirmed his willingness to step aside for Peter Obi if Obi secures the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 elections. Atiku acknowledged Obi as a front-runner for the ADC candidacy, alongside other potential candidates such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi.

When asked directly if he would step down for Obi, Atiku affirmed his readiness. He also mentioned that it would not be difficult for Obi to serve as his vice-presidential running mate.

Furthermore, Atiku expressed optimism that the northern electorate would rally behind him in the upcoming general elections, emphasizing that the north remains a significant political base. He recalled the outcome of the 2023 elections, where he won in northern states, indicating a united political front in the region.
