Aisha Yesufu Transitions from Advocacy to Politics for 2027

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent human rights activist, declared her decision to enter politics while maintaining her commitment to advocacy. In a statement made on Monday during a briefing on Channels Television, she expressed her intention to participate in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Yesufu clarified that she is not leaving advocacy but rather taking it into the political arena. She highlighted her history of keeping her word in public advocacy over the past decade and criticized the perception that activists should not engage in politics.

Yesufu previously defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and has aligned herself with Peter Obi. She stated that it is unfair to continue to separate activism from governance, emphasizing the need for activists to engage in political parties.
