Imo APP Challenges Relocation of Ideato Collation Centre

The Action Peoples Party (APP), Imo State chapter, has expressed opposition to the proposed relocation of the collation centre for the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency from Urualla in Ideato North Local Government Area to Dikenafai in Ideato South. APP Chairman Ernest Njesi stated that any changes to established electoral arrangements must follow legal and administrative procedures, involve adequate stakeholder consultation, and provide publicly verifiable justifications.

The party's concerns arise amid a legal challenge in the Federal High Court in Abuja regarding the relocation. Residents have requested the court to halt the move and investigate the decision's circumstances.

Njesi emphasized the need for clarity on the use of insecurity as a justification for the relocation, urging authorities to provide credible evidence. The APP also expressed apprehension over potential similar changes in the Nkwerre/Isu/Njaba/Nwangele Federal Constituency and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify the legal basis for any proposed relocations.
