PDP Opposes Relocation of Ideato Federal Constituency Collation Centre

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State condemned the reported attempt to relocate the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency Collation Centre from Urualla to Dikenafai. In a press release issued on Thursday, the PDP described the move as “deeply troubling and unacceptable,” particularly if pursued without broad consultation with stakeholders.

The party emphasized that the collation of election results is a public affair involving various stakeholders and must adhere to transparency and due process. The PDP expressed concern that security reasons were being cited to justify the relocation, insisting that any such justification must be backed by a verifiable security assessment.

The party noted Urualla's historical role as the collation point and warned that altering this arrangement without adequate consultation could foster suspicion and tension between communities. The PDP called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify the circumstances of the relocation and ensure transparency in any security assessments and stakeholder consultations.
