Kaiama Group Rejects APC's Imposed NASS Candidate

The Kaiama Development Association, represented by President Alhaji Yakubu Salihu and Secretary Aminu Moham Umar, issued a statement condemning the All Progressives Congress (APC) for imposing a candidate for the National Assembly elections without proper consultation with local stakeholders. The association claims that the candidate, Hon.

Saidu Baba Ahmad, has a poor legislative record, having served seven years in the Kwara State House of Assembly without sponsoring any bills or effectively representing the constituency. They further allege that he has not visited communities affected by violence, such as the February 3, 2026, attack that resulted in 100 deaths and 176 abductions.

The association argues that the candidate's inability to communicate effectively in English undermines legislative business, as it is Nigeria's official language. They demand that the APC leadership in Kwara State nullify the imposition and engage traditional institutions and community groups to produce a consensual candidate, warning of mobilization against the decision.
