Favour Ashe Prepares for 2026 Commonwealth Games

Favour Ashe, a sprint star and specialist in the 100m and 4x100m relay, has declared his readiness for the 2026 Commonwealth Games set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2. Ashe highlighted the significance of mental preparation, stating that being in the right mental space is crucial for athletes.

He called on Nigerians to rally behind Team Nigeria during the competition, encouraging support from families and friends. The Nigeria Sports Commission, represented by Director Bukola Olopade, announced a financial reward package for medal winners: gold medalists will receive $3,000, silver medalists $2,000, and bronze medalists $1,500.

Coaches of medal-winning athletes will earn a performance bonus of $5,000. Nigeria is expected to send a strong contingent to the Games, including elite athletes like world record holder Tobi Amusan and shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi.
