INEC Publishes 2027 Election Candidates' Details

On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the personal particulars of presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election, adhering to the Electoral Act's requirements. The candidates include Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

The publication follows Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, which mandates that INEC publish candidates' particulars within 21 days of receipt. The display of these particulars is set for August 1, 2026, ahead of the official campaign start on August 19, 2026.

Tinubu's details reveal he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Chicago State University, with no information on his primary and secondary education. His date of birth is listed as March 29, 1952.

Shettima and Atiku also provided their educational backgrounds and work histories, complying with the statutory requirements.
