Tinubu's Nomination Papers Spark Educational Controversy

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published President Bola Tinubu's nomination papers for the 2027 presidential election, which has reignited controversy over his educational qualifications. The documents revealed that Tinubu did not list his primary and secondary school certificates in the educational qualifications section of his personal particulars.

This omission has led to renewed political debate, with opposition parties questioning the absence and demanding explanations from both Tinubu and INEC. A review of Tinubu's EC9 nomination form indicated that he only listed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Chicago State University, leaving the sections for primary and secondary school qualifications blank.

He did, however, attach his university degree certificate and National Youth Service Corps certificate. Tinubu stated he was born on March 29, 1952, in Lagos and described his occupation as “Politician.” He worked at Mobil Nigeria Limited from 1983 to 1992 and served as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.

The National Publicity Secretary of the National Democratic Coalition, Osa Director, expressed disappointment over the situation and emphasized that the questions regarding the missing certificates should be directed to Tinubu and his aides.
