INEC to Publish Candidates' Details for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to release the personal particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates today, in accordance with the revised timetable for the 2027 general election. This publication includes the leading candidates: Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

As mandated by Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, INEC is required to publish these details within 21 days of receiving the candidates' particulars to ensure transparency in the electoral process. The publication allows the public to scrutinize the academic credentials and documents submitted by the candidates.

Following this, political parties will officially commence their campaigns for the presidential election on August 19, 2026.
