INEC Aims for Better Elections by 2027, Not Perfection

Amupitan, a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), made a declaration on Sunday during a citizen town hall meeting regarding the Electoral Act of 2026. He acknowledged that while INEC is striving to provide the best elections for Nigeria by 2027, it cannot assure a perfect election, which is what Nigerians expect.

Amupitan raised concerns about the capacity to transmit results electronically in real-time, indicating that this is a significant challenge. However, he assured that INEC is prepared to conduct peaceful, credible, and transparent elections in accordance with the standards expected for the 2027 elections, aiming to make it the best electoral process in Nigeria's history.
