INEC Chair Amupitan Urges Staff for 2027 Election Readiness

On Thursday, during a visit to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), addressed staff, reminding them of the high expectations Nigerians have for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He emphasized the need for professionalism, transparency, and integrity in their duties.

The visit coincided with a technical workshop in Ikot Ekpen, where Amupitan reviewed key aspects of electoral administration. He noted that the credibility of future elections heavily relies on the quality of preparations and the commitment of INEC personnel.

Amupitan also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve voter registration accuracy through collaboration with the National Population Commission (NPC) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). He reassured staff of INEC's commitment to enhancing their welfare and career development, including the establishment of specialized professional cadres.

The chairman urged staff to ensure the readiness of electoral technology, particularly the bimodal voter accreditation system, ahead of future elections.
