Wike Claims Kingibe Will Lose Senate Seat in 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, asserted that Ireti Kingibe, the current senator representing the FCT, will not return to the Senate in 2027. Wike made these comments during a press interaction on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing road projects in the FCT.

The dispute arose after Kingibe accused the FCT Administration of securing loans without National Assembly approval, a claim Wike refuted, stating that her assertion indicated a misunderstanding of the loan acquisition process. Wike labeled Kingibe as "an illiterate" and emphasized that the public had already made their political choice in favor of President Tinubu and Philip Aduda for the Senate.

He argued that the focus should be on the effective use of borrowed funds for infrastructure rather than the borrowing itself. Kingibe's allegations were dismissed by the House of Representatives, with Deputy Spokesman Philip Agbese confirming that borrowing for infrastructure is lawful when proper procedures are followed.
