Ireti Kingibe Defends Senate Seat Amid Wike's Claims

Ireti Kingibe, the current senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has publicly responded to Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, who stated that she would not return to the Senate in the 2027 election, citing support for former senator Philip Aduda. Wike made these remarks on Tuesday while inspecting road projects in the FCT, following Kingibe's accusations that the administration was securing loans without National Assembly approval.

Wike dismissed her allegations, claiming they reflected a misunderstanding of the loan process and stated that Kingibe had “nothing to offer” the FCT residents. In a post on X, Kingibe asserted that she would not be intimidated by insults or political pressure, emphasizing her duty as a legislator to demand accountability.

She challenged Wike to provide the Senate’s Votes and Proceedings to prove that the loans in question had received the necessary approval, stating that no public official is above scrutiny.
