Wike Declares Kingibe Won't Return to Senate in 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, publicly criticized Senator Ireti Kingibe, stating she would not return to the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections. Wike made these remarks on Tuesday during an inspection of ongoing road projects in the FCT, responding to Kingibe's accusations that he took loans without National Assembly approval.

He labeled her as "illiterate" and insisted that all loans taken by the FCT Administration were approved by the National Assembly and included in the budget. Wike further claimed that Kingibe was losing political relevance, as residents of the FCT were backing President Bola Tinubu and his preferred candidate for the FCT senatorial seat, Philip Aduda.

He expressed a desire not to engage further with Kingibe, suggesting she should prepare to exit the political scene as the electorate had made their choice.
