Showunmi Leads Ogun Mobilization for Tinubu's 2027 Bid

Otunba Segun Showunmi, the Convener of the Alternative Movement, has initiated grassroots mobilization in Ogun State to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election for the 2027 presidential election. During a program in Abeokuta, he emphasized the importance of grassroots efforts, stating that he has empowered supporters to work at the polling-unit level across six local government areas in Ogun Central.

Showunmi, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissed concerns over opposition to Tinubu, claiming that those challenging him are "wasting their resources." He urged Yoruba voters to back Tinubu, warning against a scenario where northern votes surpass those from the South-West. Additionally, Showunmi criticized Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, for proposing to restore the petrol subsidy, arguing that it would regress Nigeria's progress.

He stated that past subsidy attempts have failed and highlighted the need for immediate action to support Tinubu's campaign.
