Ogun PDP Leader Segun Showunmi Backs Tinubu for 2027

Otunba Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and convener of The Alternative Movement, publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid for the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in the Itoko area of Abeokuta, Showunmi argued that Nigeria requires policy continuity and sufficient time for the government to implement its economic programs, cautioning against frequent leadership changes that could hinder long-term development.

He urged his supporters to begin grassroots mobilization for Tinubu, stating his intention to expand his political structure across the six local government areas of Ogun Central. Showunmi also expressed his commitment to registering his political structure in Ijebu with the PDP, under the leadership of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.

He dismissed the potential of alternative presidential candidates from the South-West, asserting that the upcoming election is solely Tinubu's to win and called on Yoruba voters to rally support to avoid losing political influence.
