Peter Obi: 2027 Election is Nigerians vs APC Government

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), declared that the upcoming 2027 general election will represent a contest between the Nigerian populace and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government. During an interview with Arise Television aired on Thursday, Obi criticized the 2023 election, asserting that Nigerians had misplaced their trust in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who he claimed was not acting in the best interests of the electorate.

Obi emphasized that the 2027 election must be approached differently, stating, “This election... is not about parties but it’s the people versus the government.” He expressed that Nigerians would ensure that the right actions are taken this time, reflecting on past mistakes and the need for a more vigilant approach to the electoral process.
