Zamfara Governor Lawal Challenges Wike to Join APC

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has challenged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he intends to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. Lawal stated that Wike cannot support Tinubu at the presidential level while also backing candidates from other political parties in the governorship and legislative elections.

This statement was made during an interview with Channels Television’s Inside Sources on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. Lawal insisted that Wike should clearly define his political allegiance, stating, “You can’t be in two sides.” He plans to discuss Wike's political position with President Tinubu, emphasizing the need for clarity regarding Wike's affiliation.

The disagreement revolves around Wike's proposed Rainbow Coalition, which aims to support Tinubu while allowing other parties to field candidates in elections. Wike has defended this coalition, asserting it is not an APC platform.
