Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal Challenges Wike's Allegiance

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, has publicly challenged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to clarify his political allegiance due to his involvement with the Rainbow Coalition, which supports President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. Lawal stated that Wike cannot simultaneously support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties, urging him to clearly define his position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Progressive Governors Forum, representing APC governors, has rejected the Rainbow Coalition, arguing that Wike's dual support could complicate the party's electoral strategies. In an interview with Channels Television during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, Lawal reiterated that APC governors are firm in their stance, stating, “You can’t be on two sides.” He indicated that he would discuss Wike's political alignment with President Tinubu upon his return from France, insisting that Wike must choose between remaining with the APC or stepping away.
