Kogi High Court Denies Deregistration of Nigeria Democratic Congress

The Kogi State High Court, represented by Justice Josiah Joe Majebi, issued a statement denying claims that it ordered the deregistration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The court clarified that it does not manage cases related to the registration or deregistration of political parties, including the NDC.

This statement was made in response to viral social media reports that misrepresented the court's actions. The court emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity of the judiciary and warned content creators against publishing unverifiable information that could mislead the public.

The court's statement also referenced a previous ruling from June, where the Federal High Court in Lokoja set aside an earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC due to procedural defects. The NDC maintains that the court did not order its deregistration and has filed an appeal regarding the judgment.
